Information we collect

We collect information you provide directly and information generated when you use AmeCab.

Account information

When you create an account — as a rider or a driver — we collect:

• Full name
• Email address
• Phone number
• Password (stored in hashed form — we never see your actual password)
• Driver company code (riders) or company name and vehicle details (drivers)

Trip information

Each time a ride is requested or completed, we record:

• Pickup and drop-off locations
• Distance traveled (miles or kilometers)
• Estimated and final fare
• Payment method selected (Cash or Zelle — we do not process or store card numbers)
• Trip status and timestamps

Device and usage information

We automatically collect limited technical data to keep the app running correctly, including device type, browser type, and app version. We do not use advertising trackers or fingerprinting technologies.

How we use your information

We use the information we collect solely to operate AmeCab and improve the experience for drivers and riders.

• Connect riders to the driver or company associated with their code
• Display real-time location of the driver to the rider during an active trip
• Calculate fares based on distance and the driver's set rate
• Send trip confirmations and ride-status notifications
• Allow drivers to view their daily earnings and trip history
• Allow administrators to manage driver and rider accounts
• Maintain the security and integrity of accounts

We do not use your information for advertising, behavioral profiling, or any purpose unrelated to providing the AmeCab service.

Location data

AmeCab is a location-based service. Here is exactly how location is used:

Riders

Your device location is accessed when you open the map to request a ride. It is used to show your position on the map and to calculate the route to your destination. Once a trip is completed or canceled, live location sharing stops.

Drivers

Your GPS position is shared with the rider who has an active trip with you — so they can see the driver approaching and track the ride in progress. Your location is only visible to riders linked to your company code, and only during active trips. When you set yourself Offline, location sharing stops.

We use Google Maps APIs for mapping, routing, and place search. Google's own privacy policy governs their services.

Sharing and disclosure

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We share data only in the following limited circumstances:

Between riders and drivers

Riders can see the driver's name, vehicle, and live location during an active trip. Drivers can see the rider's name, destination, and requested fare. This information is shared only for the purpose of completing the trip.

Service providers

We use the following third-party infrastructure to operate AmeCab:

• Firebase (Google) — authentication, real-time database, and cloud storage
• Google Maps Platform — mapping, directions, and place autocomplete

These providers process data on our behalf under their own privacy and security standards. We do not share data with any advertising platforms.

Legal requirements

We may disclose information if required by law, court order, or to protect the safety of users or the public.

Data retention

We retain your account information for as long as your account is active. Trip records are kept to allow drivers to review their earnings history and to resolve any disputes.

If you delete your account, we will delete your personal information within 30 days, except where we are required by law to retain it for a longer period.

Your rights

Depending on where you are located, you may have the following rights regarding your personal information:

• Access — request a copy of the data we hold about you
• Correction — ask us to correct inaccurate information
• Deletion — request that we delete your account and associated data
• Portability — receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format
• Objection — object to certain types of data processing

Children's privacy

AmeCab is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with their information, please contact us and we will promptly delete it.

Security

We use industry-standard measures to protect your information, including HTTPS encryption for all data in transit, Firebase Authentication for secure account access, and hashed password storage. No system is completely secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your data against unauthorized access, alteration, or disclosure.

Third-party services

AmeCab integrates with third-party services to provide core functionality. Each of these services has its own privacy policy:

• Google Maps Platform — policies.google.com/privacy

We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these third parties, but we only work with providers who maintain strong data protection standards.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the effective date at the top of this page. If the changes are significant, we will notify users through the app or by email. Continued use of AmeCab after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
